ICHP (AUSTRALIA) Insitute of Clinical Hypnotherapy & Psychotherapy
In 2002 the Principal of ICHP Ireland, Dr Keaney, granted a License which permitted the formation of ICHP (Australia) and the teaching in Australasia and SE Asia of the ICHP Foundation Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy. Certificates and Diplomas are awarded jointly by ICHP Headquarters and ICHP (Australia) and are recognized throughout the world.
ICHP(Australia) currently teaches the ICHP Foundation, Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses (under Licence) in a format intended to ensure Experiential-humanistic and Cognitive-behavioural-based training and assessment, and clinical application, in support of evidence-based hypnotherapy and Hypno-psychotherapy. These Courses are long established (more than 20 years) Courses taught at para-professional and professional level throughout Europe under a regime of Professional Vocational Education and Higher Education.
Evidence–based training ensures that would-be Clinical Hypnotherapy-psychotherapy practitioners recognize, and apply, the recognized treatment most appropriate to their client and the condition presented. This is ensured by means of the application, during training, of appropriate assessment tools, clinical studies, personal supervision and continuous monitored self-development throughout the courses at a level appropriate to the type of qualification.
The Principal lecturers/trainers, mentors and Supervisors in ICHP(Australia) are highly qualified practicing Clinical therapists with a variety of post-graduate qualifications, Degrees, Advanced Diplomas in Hypnotherapy-psychotherapy and Diplomas. As Clinical Therapists they are also Members of Peak Associations.
THE ICHP AUSTRALIA TEAM
Principle and Director of studies- Dr Peter L. George
Peter George is the Principal and Director of Studies in Australia, he holds a Professional Doctorate in Education in Hypno-psychotherapy awarded in 2010 and is an Honorary Fellow of the International Register of Evidence-based Hypno-psychotherapists. Dr Peter George is currently in private practice, following 6 years as a Mental Health Clinician in the Limestone Coast Division of General Practice in South East Australia.
Peter was awarded a Master’s degree in Science and a 2 year Commonwealth Postgraduate Fellowship for study in the UK and US, worked for the Australian Government as a Research Scientist in communications rising to Principal Research Scientist in 1978 leading a Research Group of some 26 skilled researchers and experimental scientists. Whilst in the US Peter took the opportunity to study Cognitive-behavioural Psychotherapy with the founder of Cognitive therapy Prof. Aaron T. Beck.
Some 6 years after returning to Australia he chose to make a career transition into full time clinical work. After gaining his Diploma in Analytical Hypnotherapy and an Advanced Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy/Psychotherapy he undertook postgraduate studies at the University of South Australia in Health Counselling (Social Science). In 2001 Peter commenced lecturing at postgraduate level at the ICHP in Ireland in the areas of Holistic Integrative Psychotherapy (HIT therapy) and in Trauma Counselling in Hypno-psychotherapy. Peter is on the Advisory Board of ICHP (Ireland) and teaches the Master's Certificate post graduate course as a member of Faculty each year in Dublin.
Principle Lecturer and Clinical Supervisor ICHP (Australia)-Deborah George
Deborah George is a Principal Lecturer for ICHP she holds a Professional Master's Post Graduate Certificate in Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy awarded in recognition for her contribution over the years 2011-2015 inclusive to both theory and practice in the field of Hypno-psychotherapy and specifically for the professional services to the education of Hypno-psychotherapists. Deborah is an Honorary Fellow of the International Register of Evidence-based Hypno-psychotherapists. Deborah George currently Lectures for ICHP (Australia) in Adelaide and Brisbane and runs a private practice, servicing South East Australia. Deborah George is a Clinical Supervisor for ICHP Graduates and Clinical Members of the Australian Hypnotherapists Association.
Senior Lecturer and Clinical Supervisor ICHP (Australia)- Leigh Milne
Leigh Milne currently holds a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) an Advanced Diploma Clinical Hypno-Psychotherapy and Cert IV Training & Assessment. Leigh has been an allied health professional for many years accumulating over 10 years’ experience in mind body medicine field. Leigh Currently runs her own Private Practice in Perth and Lecturer's for ICHP Australia.
Leigh is the West Australian appointed supervisor & mentor for ICHP Hypnotherapy students/Graduates in Western Australia. She is a Clinical member and approved (AHA) Australian Hypnotherapist Association supervisor for Perth.
Mentor and Trainer ICHP (Australia)- Di Skelly-Heron
​Studied at Mercedes College, Perth. Upgrading her skills in Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy 7 years ago with the Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy here in Australia, Di currently holds an Advanced Diploma in Hypno- Psychotherapy, she also holds a Cert IV Training & Assessment and teaches Art Therapy. She is an Author of 5 books on healthy plant based lifestyles.....a Clinical Psychotherapist, Art Therapist, Nutritionist, Visual Artist, and Illustrator of many books.
In fulfilling her passion for teaching and assisting others to heal themselves Di has become an integral part of the ICHP Australia team, she mentors and runs face to face Hypno-Psychotherapy courses and workshops on the Gold coast .
Clinical Supervisor and Mentor ICHP (Australia)- Lynda Watson
Lynda Watson Currently Holds an Advanced Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy and a certificate in Holistic Integrative Therapy(HIT). Lynda has undergone specialized training in Hypnotic Anesthesiology, Pediatric Hypnosis, Emergency Hypnosis as well as the Hypno-Banding Weight Loss System. Lynda has been in Private Practice in the area of pain management, Auto immune disease and IBS and weight management now for over 10 years and works closely with medical practitioners. Lynda is the Adelaide appointed Clinical Supervisor & Mentor for ICHP (Australia) Hypno-psychotherapy students/Graduates in South Australia. She is a professional member of AACHP and a Clinical member, approved Supervisor of the (AHA) Australian Hypnotherapist Association.
Mentor and Clinical Supervisor ICHP (Australia)- Peter McMahon
Peter Holds an Advanced Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy and integrates Hypnosis, Mindfulness, Analytical Psychotherapy & Enhanced Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in his private practice.
Peter treats Anxiety, Depression, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Weight Control and Eating Disorders such as Bulimia, Binge eating and Anorexia and also offers specialized Executive Support Programs for Executives and Entrepreneurs. Peter has over 12 Years of clinical experience, Since 2002, he has helped over 3000 people. Peter is a recognized Clinical Supervisor with The Australian Hypnotherapist Association (AHA) and ICHP (Australia). He is a Fellow of the International Register of Evidence-based Hypno-psychotherapists.
